The Impact of the Internet on the Dissemination of Music: The Case of Electronic Dance Music

Abstract:
This article analyzes the impact of the Internet on the dissemination of music, focusing on the case of electronic dance music (EDM). The study is based on a survey of 1000 EDM fans in Spain. The results show that the Internet has had a significant impact on the way EDM is consumed and distributed. The majority of respondents use the Internet to listen to music, with streaming services being the most popular method. Social media platforms are also widely used to discover new artists and share music. The study concludes that the Internet has democratized access to EDM, allowing fans from all over the world to connect and share their passion for the genre.
