Abstract
Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the mental health of healthcare workers worldwide. This study aims to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of mental health problems among healthcare workers in China during the early stages of the pandemic.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 1,200 healthcare workers from 10 hospitals in Wuhan, China, between February and March 2020. Participants completed self-administered questionnaires assessing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Results: The overall prevalence of anxiety, depression, and PTSD was 45.2%, 38.7%, and 22.5%, respectively. Female gender, younger age, working in high-risk departments, and lack of social support were significant risk factors for mental health problems.
