Abstract:
This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of healthcare workers. We conducted a comprehensive search of electronic databases from January 2020 to December 2022. Studies that reported on symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress, or burnout among healthcare workers during the pandemic were included. A total of 50 studies met the inclusion criteria. The results indicate a significant increase in the prevalence of mental health issues among healthcare workers compared to pre-pandemic levels. Factors such as workload, fear of infection, and lack of personal protective equipment were identified as major contributors to these mental health challenges.
