6 Summary

(4) Basic requirements of the procurement:
The main purpose of the new educational
system is to provide educations of pro-
gramming languages, computer graphics,
image processing, computer systems, and
specialized cources related to human re-
sources development for advanced informa-
tion professionals using the newest UNIX
and Windows operating system environ-
ment mainly for the students of the de-
partment of chemistry, biology and en-
vironmental science, the department of cul-
ture and computer science, and students be-
longing to faculty or department who needs
IT related educations, including the stu-
dents of master's course and doctoral co-
urse. The basis requirements for the specifi-
cation of this system are as follows.
A This new system should be able to sup-
port education for information process-
ing. research and various services at the
department of chemistry, biology and en-
vironmental science, and the department
of culture and computer science, and
master's and doctoral courses efficiently.
B All systems should be connected to the
Nara Women's University campus com-
puter network to share the computer re-
sources with security from computers
within and outside the campus computer
network.
C The system should consist of the fol-
lowing components; user account man-
agement system, programming environ-
ments, application software necessary for
education of computer sciences and re-
search, and various user managements. It
also must have enough hardware specs to
run these systems.
D Thissystem consists of personal com-
puter systems for students, automatic re-
store system, laser printers, Linux/
UNIX remote login server, file server,
authentication and license server, fi-
rewall, DNS server, mail server, WWW
server, network equipment, video pro-
jectors, card key security system, wire-
less LAN access points, video display sys-
tem, and related furniture.
E The personal computer system for stu-
dents consists of 128 or more personal
computers with Linux/UNIX and Win-
dows, or macOS.
F The system should be supported by a
reliable and prompt maintenance service
on request
